If you do something that Nate doesn't want you to do, he cries. So, don't take off his shoes, don't get the corn dogs out of the freezer, don't turn the TV channel, don't pick out the wrong book to read, don't start the washing machine, don't close the garage door, don't turn any lights off in the house, and the list goes on. After all, shouldn't I just know when Nate wants to take the corn dogs out of the freezer, open the box and put them on the plate...I mean really, what's wrong with me? Shouldn't I know that Nate wants to read the Elmo book and not Thomas the Tank Engine. Get a grip Mom, Nate wants to watch Dora not Sesame Street. How could I forget that pushing the garage door button and turning out the lights at night is his job? He must always throw several pieces of clothing in the washing machine before it is started, so don't ever get in a hurry or think he is preoccupied doing something else. AND he wants juice now, NOT milk!! UGH!
I understand that Nate gets frustrated when I can't read his mind (so do I). This frustration comes because he isn't great at verbal communication yet. But he does talk, and we constantly tell him to "use his words" instead of throwing himself on the floor and screaming his head off. It's not like he does this when he's told "no", but when he can't or won't communicate his wants and needs.
I know the problem, and I know the solution...but this is a slow process that is starting to get on my last nerve. There, I said it! I can finally admit that my kids do things that get on my nerves. I'm human too...right?
So for now, my little Nate will 'cry me a river'...I just hope it dries up soon!
I guess he didn't want me to take his picture... ;)
